Between Black & White
You shouldn’t just divide the world into black and white… but does it necessarily have to be in colour? The magic of black and white photography offers such an infinitely versatile drama in shades of grey. Millions of shades manage to give the drama of photography an intensity that is hard to communicate in almost any coloured photograph.
It’s an interplay between light and shade, combined with surface reflections. The photographer’s personal emotion and perception perfectly complete the moment and produce a photograph in the end that is more intensive and limited to just the essentials, than almost any other.
No, I don’t see the world in black and white, it is colourful… and yet colourless. It is brightly lit up and yet also a world of shadows. An interplay of moody melancholy and the energy of light… each moment, each instant so fascinating in its uniqueness that you are constantly dominated by the fear of averting your gaze and missing it.
Between black & white is such an infinite richness of colors that are not colors.
